‘Paleo’ is a way of eating that is based on the foods that our Paleolithic (caveman) ancestors have eaten for the past 2.5 million years. Before the agricultural revolution 10,000 years ago we ate a diet of meat, seafood, vegetables, seasonal fruits and nuts/seeds. Since the revolution we have been consuming a heavily grain based and processed diet (bread, pasta, cereal, rice, legumes, flour, processed oils etc) and with this, the consumption of dairy.
These processed foods are taking it’s toll on our health. Did you know that 80% of people will die from a chronic disease and that this generation of kids may be the first to not live as long as their parents?? Consumption of modern day processed foods can put you at risk of developing diseases such as cancer, obesity, heart disease, asthma, Parkinson’s and infertility. It can also leave you feeling lethargic, bloated and over weight.
There is no ‘magic formula’ to the Paleo way of eating. It is out with the grain based foods, legumes, dairy products, refined salt, refined sugar & processed oils and in with a variety of lean meats, seafood, eggs, fresh fruit and vegetables and nuts.
